OpenAQ harmonizes open air quality data and builds a global community across sectors and geographies to use data to fight air pollution. The platform houses half a billion data points from 75 countries and receives 15 million requests per month. By filling this access gap, OpenAQ empowers a wide variety of individuals and organizations.
Dr. Christa Hasenkopf (Twitter: @Sciencerely) is the CEO and co‐founder of OpenAQ. Hasenkopf fell in love with open data as a mechanism for change in 2011, after launching an open air quality data effort in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. Hasenkopf is also an adjunct professor at Georgetown and Johns Hopkins. Previously, Hasenkopf was the first Chief Air Pollution Advisor to the Medical Director at the State Department. She is a former Fulbright Fellow and Echoing Green Fellow. Hasenkopf received a PhD in Atmospheric & Oceanic Sciences from the University of Colorado.
